Home energy support

Our Home Energy Advisor can provide support and advice to help keep you safe and warm at home.

Home Energy Service in partnership with SGN

At ADSS we advocate for people affected by dementia to stay living in their own homes for as long as possible. That can mean making appropriate adaptations to help you stay safe, and keep warm. Our dedicated home energy advisor can offer a range of practical advice and support, including in the following areas.

Safety in the home

· Carbon monoxide (CO) alarms: ADSS can provide free CO alarms, vital if you have gas appliances in your home

· Priority Services Register (PSR): We can help you join the PSR, a free UK-wide service designed to provide you with extra support if there is any interruption to your gas, electricity or water supply

· Locking cooker valves: These simple safety devices stop you leaving the cooker on by mistake, and are available free of charge

Keeping warm

· Support and guidance: We can provide practical advice on keeping you and your home warm and safe. We can also signpost and make referrals to energy efficiency schemes, which could help to reduce you energy bills.

· Managing costs: If you’re struggling to cope with your energy bills, we can help you access hardship funds and check whether you’re accessing all the benefits you’re entitled to.
