Working with Underserved Communities

At the heart of our dementia wellbeing approach is a simple belief: everyone deserves the chance to live well with dementia, no matter their background, language or community.

Providing support by overcoming barriers

People from ethnically diverse communities often face additional barriers, including stigma, lack of access to services or fear of the healthcare system. That’s why we work directly within local faith and community groups across Kent to build trust, raise awareness and offer practical, compassionate support to individuals and families who might not otherwise seek help.

Working in ways that always respect culture, faith and lived experience, we strive to:

• Raise awareness about dementia and reduce stigma

• Encourage early diagnosis and provide support through that process

• Share information about living well with dementia – for both people with dementia and their carers

• Highlight the importance of staying active, eating well and keeping hydrated

• Offer access to Dementia Coordinators for one-to-one specialist guidance.

Helping communities thrive

We work to build relationships with community leaders and faith group coordinators, earning trust, sharing knowledge and becoming a consistent and supportive presence. We’re not only delivering our own services; in many cases, we introduce other helpful organisations too, so groups can learn about wider support networks available locally. In this way, we aim to create long-term partnerships that empower communities to support their own members with confidence and compassion.

If you’re part of a local faith or cultural organisation and would like to find out how we can work together, please get in touch with us. We'd love to visit, listen, and start building something together.
